Yes. A pre-infusion clinical assessment by a Nurse Practitioner is required before every course of IV therapy to confirm the medical indication and ensure patient safety.

Is IV therapy covered by OHIP or insurance?
No. OttawaNPservices is a private, fee—for—service clinic. IV therapy is not covered by OHIP. Some extended benefit plans may offer partial coverage, please verify with your insurer.
Is IV iron available?
Yes. Iron infusions are available using Venofer® (iron sucrose) and Monoferric® (ferric derisomaltose) for patients with laboratory-confirmed iron deficiency anaemia.
Is this a wellness or hydration drip service?
No. IV therapy at OttawaNPservices is provided only for medical indications. Cosmetic or spa—based IV services are not offered here.
How long does an infusion take?
Infusion times vary depending on the type and dose. Rehydration infusions are typically 30—60 minutes. Iron infusions may take longer depending on the product and clinical protocol. Your NP will advise you at assessment.
